Hi Kevin, thank you so much for reaching out. I went to your website and had a peek at your book. Great cover. Love it. Website is good, easy navigation, clean. I think the difficulty you may be having, (and please don’t kill me, I’m only the messenger) is that the book title, set up, etc. fails to clearly communicate a clear benefit to reader for reading it. It’s all about chronicling what happened to the U.S. economy, not about any discernible solution or course of action that will help your reader (and not clear who that is) today. This is such a common challenge with authors. You get a spark, and move right from idea to writing. What’s missing here is the concept, which is the idea developed into something that will compel and engage a specific audience, and THAT includes a clear BENEFIT to the reader. People are so busy and, I’m guessing, so sick and tired of hearing about the financial crisis problem, I think they look at your book and think, “I don’t want to relive this.” It looks to me like you do talk about some solution-oriented ideas inside the book. For now, you might just try a new title/subtitle that communicates the train wreck AND the benefit to the reader. Ultimately, I’d consider retooling the book before your next print run. It’s clear to me you have great expertise and insight, and I think if we re-framed the message a bit, you’d have more success. I’d be happy to explore this with you further in a Laser Coaching Session. http://getpublishedcoach.com/laser-coaching
